Project Summary
ak|a have been involved for a number of years in the conservation and refurbishment of a beautiful ‘B’ listed rural corn mill.
Its conversion will secure its long term survival with a new residential use. A first phase of works included the repair and repointing of stonework and the re-slating of roofs. Traditional stone masons were employed who were familiar with historic details and skilled in the use of lime mortar.
A warrant is in place for phase 2 works which will reinstate the stables wing and provide further upgrades. In the long term it is hoped to reinstate the mill pond, lade and water wheel.
The project provides an exciting opportunity to restore a valuable part of local history.
